music blending rhythms from Brazil and Indian Ocean

Nyllo Canella and Loya are mixed-race artists exploring the vast array of rhythms left by their ancestors. In Brazil, Nyllo was trained by percussion masters who helped him master some of the 800 rhythms found in his country, most of which were imported by slaves. Loya, for his part, learnt his ancestral cultures by attending the temple of his Tamil grandfather. The two artists met for the first time this year during a week-long residency in Rouen, and gave a concert at Le Faitout in July 2023, showcasing the beginnings of their creation based on ancestral rhythms.

The first six-track Ep Amazonas will be released in April 2024.
